<description>Mark, We've been using AVR for a little over a year now. What our .Net people do is pass me a C# (.Net) object, as you can tell I lean more to the RPG side of things. From that object I add/update the date on the iSeries. I have several methods that the .Net folks call for different functions, get specific data, add records, etc. I basically either use their object for my input or I return a predefined object or one they use in their system, filled out with the iSeries data. Only problems I have run across ...

<description>Mark, My understanding is that the VRPG software has its own data layer. Are you planning to use the ASNA's RPG or write something custom in VB.Net/C# ? If they are using full-on VRPG I would see what they offer in their stuff first. Also, what type of app ? In .Net you would typically use SQL to update records in the database in .Net depending on your apps functionality. VRPG probably has some functionality similar to CHAIN/READ/WRITE/UPDATE already built in to its language. Where it probably gets a little...

<description>Another way to handle this is with a memory file. These are specific to ASNA, and similar to a Dataset/Datatable with one exception. You can handle them just like any other DB2 or SQL file using opcodes of read, setll or chaining for instance. Michael J. <title> ASNA Visual RPG</title>
    <link>http://feeds.midrange.com/~r/systemidotnet/~3/QkK61A52eLs/msg00001.html</link>
<description>Hello all, I'm at a client that is using ASNA VRPG for .Net. I have been tasked to create a data access layer over their database in order to streamline some of their web development. My question to you is how would you implement the Add/Update functions of a data class. I thought about passing a .Net datatable back to the procedure and write/update from that, but I was wondering if anyone has any more elegant solutions. Thanks, Mark Mark Walter Business to Business Data Integration Specialist Certified IBM...
